The 25th annual Florida Christian Writers Conference, March 1-4, 2012, at the Lake Yale Conference Center in Leesburg, Florida has much to offer writers from teen through adult. This year, I'll represent SUSIE Magazine and offer two workshops. Descriptions and tentative times are listed below.

Master the Memoir--Friday, March 2, 4:00 PM

Do you have a life story the world needs to read? Do you long to leave a legacy in print for family and friends? In this workshop, Marti discusses the do's and don'ts of this popular genre, including the importance of a narrative thread, how thinking small can make a big difference, and the mystery of marketability.

Book Doctor: Take Your Nonfiction from Good to Great--Sunday, March 4, 9:45 AM

Marti applies her writing and editing experience to expose common errrors in nonfiction manuscripts and offer practical help. The workshop includes tips on identifying your unique selling point and target audience, proposal-writing, and eliminating the common flaws that leave manuscripts lingering in the slush pile.

Marti shares from her own-and others'--writing adventures in this seminared geared toward those who long to reach the elusive teen and young adult market. The seminar presents positive encouragement and practical tips as it helps you eliminate common errors before they reach an editor's desk.

Creative Nonfiction--Friday, March 2

Has the need to convey accurate information stolen your writing joy? This seminar examines the true sources of creativity along with the ways the enemy works to sabotage this important element of our work. Marti introduces and explains the creative nonfiction genre and concludes with ideas for adding creative touches to your nonfiction work. Critique Group, Articles for Teens and Adults--Saturday, March 3

Writers are encouraged to bring a piece to share with the group and receive critique along with information on marketing and more.
