About Marti
Marti at Home: Personal Bio
Marti Pieper grew up in West Chester, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband Tom (pastor, teacher, and trumpet player extraordinaire) married in 1983 and have lived coast to coast. They have five amazing children, two devoted sons-in-love, and Promise, the best dog in the world. The Piepers live in central Florida where Marti homeschools the three children who still live at home.
Marti's passions to read, write, and pray extend across the globe. She serves as Director of Prayer and Publication for Awe Star Ministries, a short-term missions-sending organization that works primarily with high school and college students. She loves to bake, garden, prayerwalk (especially on the beach), worship, and spend time with her family.
Marti at Work: Professional Bio
Marti Pieper pursues her craft with passion and purpose. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During her seminary studies, she contributed significantly to faculty publishing ventures. She then devoted several years to her family and returned to professional writing in 2000. She became a regular contributor to Christianity Today's pastoral resources site and to Homeschooling Today magazine where she also served as contributing editor.
2005 brought major change as Marti moved into CBA nonfiction work. She volunteered to assist Brent and Deanna Higgins as they told the compelling story of their son, BJ. Their project, I Would Die for You: One Student's Story of Passion, Service, and Faith (Revell, 2008) became a young adult best-seller now in its fourth printing. Recently, the book was featured in both SUSIE and Missions Mosaic magazines.
Prior to the release of I Would Die for You, Marti assisted Dr. Walker Moore, President of Awe Star Ministries, on both Rite of Passage Parenting: Four Essential Experiences to Equip Your Kids for Life and the Rite of Passage Parenting Workbook (both Thomas Nelson, 2007). Rite of Passage Parenting has since been translated into Spanish and Korean; the Rite of Passage Parenting Workbook is a Mom's Choice Gold Medallion award winner. Marti also edits Dr. Moore's weekly "Rite of Passage Parenting" column in the Baptist Messenger of Oklahoma.
Recently, Marti used her gifts to assist Dr. Ted and Diane Roberts in the March, 2010 release of Sexy Christians: The Purpose, Power, and Passion of Biblical Intimacy and its companion Sexy Christians Workbook (Baker Books). She has also written back cover copy, contributed to press releases, and published articles related to her book projects. In addition, she writes and edits regularly for the Christian teen market via SUSIE Magazine. Her bimonthly column, "Through Obie's Eyes," is a popular feature of both print and online versions.
Authors, editors, and reviewers agree: Marti is a gifted book doctor, writer, and editor whose experience allows her to capture an author's message while maintaining a strong voice that invites and sustains interest. Her own voice and versatility make her a writer to watch both now and in days to come.
